Moy Hill Community Garden

13 Nov

There is more and more people starting to realize that you are what you eat and turning their back to chemically grown food shipped around the globe. Moy Hill Community Garden is aimed to promote organic food and create community space. Call in to find out why choose local and organically grown food or even grow your own. Thanks to people like Fergal Smith(click  to see his blog) more people are realizing there is something not right with the system. It is great to see projects emerging all around and even better to help with creation of one.
Here on the edge of Europe amazing plot became available for the community. Kind local bussinesman offered bit of his land to grow veg for his restaurant and gave Fergal free hand with the development.

Boys and the Machine (and the view)

After clearing the plot we discovered two wells and very good quality soil. Next on the agenda was digging up the roots of all the brambles. This task was too big for few humans so Ferg bought a pig. We build a shelter from reclaimed materials for her and named her Holly.
The garden is open for ideas and projects coming are Cob&palled shelter, underground greenhouse, composting toilet, cob oven… and not to forget lots of food plants.
Unfortunately I lost my digital camera, so I cant show you recent images.
Growing series will capture how community emerges…
